2010-11 English book purchase requirement

As part of the English curriculum, District 156 students will be learning the skill of annotation; the adding of notes in a book.  Contrary to common practice, students will be encouraged to write in their own book as part of this learning process.  Please click here for additional information.

Athletics and Activities Code of Conduct Information

Families will be receiving the Athletics and Activities Code of Conduct in registration packets this summer. Please retain the copy of the code for your review. Both parent and student should complete the acknowledgement of receipt and return with registration materials if your student intends on participating in any sport or activity during the 2010-11 school year.

AlertNow System Reminder

In the event that school needs to be cancelled due to weather conditions, parents and staff will be notified through the AlertNow system at approximately 6:00 AM.

Parents and staff can also check this website for such an announcement as well.

Family Vacation Policy Reminder

Since absences are disruptive to the educational process, vacations taken during school time are strongly discouraged.  In the event that a family’s schedule requires that a student be absent for a family vacation, the parent or legal guardian only, must request permission for the absence at least 1 WEEK IN ADVANCE.

Permission may be granted by obtaining a form from the attendance office and having it signed by a student’s Dean or Assistant Principal.   Credit for class work would then be given only for work completed and turned in.  Since some schoolwork may not be able to be made up, a vacation taken during school time, even if approved, could result in a lower grade for the student.  FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS POLICY COULD RESULT IN THE ABSENCES BEING UNEXCUSED (NO MAKE-UP CREDIT).
