MCHS SUMMER SCHOOL LEARNING PLAN 2020

9th Grade Chromebook Instructions

Digital Learning Expectations

E-learning in the summer will have key differences to digital learning taking place during the regular school year. Since teachers and students have only one class, students are expected to be engaged in that course from 8-12:30 daily (8-11 for blended courses). Teachers will begin and end each day with a synchronous connection (Zoom meeting). Throughout the school day there will be a combination of synchronous engagement and student work time. Teachers will be available and present from 8-12:30 to provide instruction and assistance.

Driver Education Information

Hello,

We would like to thank everyone for your patience and would like to inform you about some important driver education decisions that were made. We are committed to making sure that students who were enrolled in semester 2 of the 19-20 school year are able to complete their behind the wheel (btw) hours as soon as possible. Please be on the lookout for an additional email coming from Mrs. Beattie/Mr. Caruso to explain these make ups. Summer school driver ed students. At this time we have decided to postpone session 1 of driver ed summer school. We are hoping new social distancing guidelines will be in place for July and we can host a large mega session at this time that will still cover the classroom and btw portions. This session would run 24 days from 6:30am-2:30pm. Please keep in mind just like what was explained for our traditional session a student would be responsible for a 90 minute classroom session everyday and a 90 minute btw session every other day. Mr. Caruso will be sending out a preliminary schedule. If you have a major conflict with the assigned time please contact Mr. Caruso so he can make a change. Furthermore in the event that social distancing guidelines are not lifted and we cannot run our mega session we are still committed to offering a digital driver ed classroom with the understanding that the btw portion will take place during the following school when btw is allowed to resume. If you have any further questions please contact Mrs. Beattie at beattiejennifer@dist156.org.

Safety Information

As we prepare to begin behind the wheel instruction, we just want to make sure you know the safety precautions we will be following during this period:

  • If you have a cough, fever greater than 100 degrees, flu-like symptoms: chills, muscle aches, headaches, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, or diarrhea. Please stay home and do not come to driving until you are symptom free
    • Students and staff may be required to submit to a temperature check
  • Mandatory use of face coverings/masks by all students and staff. Students are responsible to bring a face covering. If you forget your face covering/mask you will not be allowed to drive that day.
  • Eating and drinking will not be allowed in the vehicle.
  • Windows will be open whenever possible. (High speed driving may require them to be closed.)
  • Follow hand hygiene with soap and water or hand sanitizer, as appropriate, before and after driving. Hand sanitizer will be available for use in the vehicle.
  • In between each btw session the steering wheel, door handles, seat belt fastener, controls/dials that the driver would come in contact with, keys, etc will be cleaned and disinfected.
  • Each evening the car will be cleaned and disinfected using products which are EPA-registered, approved by the FDA, USDA and used in accordance with CDC, OSHA and the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.

Have a great day and we will see you at your scheduled time!
