New East Campus Principal!

Dear MCHS Family,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Jeff Prickett will join MCHS District 156 as the new Principal of East Campus. Dr. Prickett was approved last night at the District 156 Board of Education Meeting. He served as Principal of Bernotas Middle School (District 47) in Crystal Lake for the past three years. In that role Dr. Prickett was the instructional and operational leader for the school, which has approximately 1,000 students and more than 100 staff members. He is a passionate advocate for students and has an amazing ability to connect with his school community to build and foster meaningful relationships.

In 2016, Dr. Prickett was named the Illinois Principals Association (IPA) Kishwaukee Region Middle School Principal of the Year and in 2017 was a Golden Apple Principal nominee. He not only brings a wealth of positive, proactive, and community building experience to our district, but also first-hand knowledge working with our feeder schools to improve vertical alignment, articulation, and high school readiness. Dr. Prickett’s experience as building leader, his ability to connect to all stakeholder groups and his motivation to transform teaching and learning will be a welcome addition to our school community.

Dr. Prickett is also a passionate believer in the principles of restorative justice. He has presented on the philosophies and tenets of this disciplinary approach to teachers, administrators, and educational leaders throughout the State of Illinois.

Dr. Prickett has been a building Principal for the past thirteen years. Prior to leading Bernotas, he was the Principal of Round Lake Middle School and Murphy Elementary School (District 116). He also served as the Assistant Principal and Dean of Students at Parkland Middle School (District 15).

He began his career in education in 1997 as an English Teacher at Kerr Middle School in Blue Island, IL. Dr. Prickett earned his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from National Louis University, holds a Master of Arts in Administration from Aurora University and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Judson College in Elgin, IL. He lives in McHenry with his wife and children.

I know Dr. Prickett is excited to meet everyone here at District 156 and begin his new role as the leader of East Campus. He will be contacting East Campus teachers and staff over the summer and will officially take the helm on July 1st. I hope you will join me in welcoming Dr. Prickett to our MCHS family.
