Chris Moore won the Class 3A state title at 170 pounds

McHenry Community High School senior Chris Moore got a special welcome to school Tuesday following his history-making win in Saturday’s IHSA wrestling state championship in Champaign.

Moore was escorted to school by police and fire trucks. Students at both Upper Campus and Freshman Campus lined the hallways to watch Moore participate in a Parade of Champions, accompanied by the band and cheerleaders.

Competing at 170 pounds, Moore won the Class 3A title for Illinois – a first in McHenry Community High School’s wrestling history. Moore’s state title caps his undefeated senior season and follows a win against Chicago Mount Carmel’s Colin Kelly, Moore’s lone loss from last year’s state championship season.
