MCHS BRIDGES participants prepare to open new store, Across the Bridge

McHenry Community High School’s BRIDGES transition program for young adults is opening a new store featuring products made by hand by program participants.

The new storefront, 1774 N. Richmond Road, is set to open in October and will also offer participants a chance to learn valuable life skills at the same time.

The BRIDGES (Building Responsibility Increased Independence Decision-making, Growth, Engagement and Self-advocacy) program is for MCHS graduates aged 18-22 to transition into independent living.

Already, the program partners with 14 businesses and organizations to provide vocational training to participants. The store is another way to teach life skills along with business and vocational skills.

Participants are making candles, bath bombs and bath salts, soaps, home decor itemts and more.
