PSAT testing is Wednesday

Wednesday, Oct. 18 is PSAT testing day for 9th- and 11th-graders at McHenry Community High School.

It is also an early release day. Tenth-graders will follow a typical early release schedule, and 12th-graders have a day of non-attendance. Please read on to see the detailed emails that were sent to families on Friday.

Freshman Campus

On Wednesday, October 18th our freshmen will take the PSAT 9. This test is an important first step on the path towards college and career readiness.

I would ask that you all stress the importance of this test next Wednesday. This data helps guide us as we make future plans for our students. It is also used in course placement. Finally, 9th graders do not always know their future paths and that is ok.

Continued exposure to the PSAT/SAT is also an important factor in success on the SAT junior year. This year the PSAT will be administered on Chromebooks for the first time. Please make sure your student has their Chromebook with them next Wednesday.

Upper Campus

Wednesday, October 18th is testing day and an early release day.

Following are details on the day:

  • 10th grade students follow their normal schedule;
  • 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT and then once released from testing, they will follow the rest of their schedule;

    (a detailed email was sent to all junior parents and students on Oct 10)

  • 12th grade students have a day of non-attendance - they should take advantage of this day and work on postsecondary planning (visits, etc.)
