Children's Music Day flyer

In an effort to inspire an interest in music for younger students, McHenry Community High School’s Tri-M Music Honor Society is hosting a Children’s Music Day for elementary school students to make melodies while having fun.

Planned for 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 27 at the high school’s Upper Campus, the event features different stations for elementary students to learn about different aspects of music production.

It is open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The cost is $5 per student and advanced registration is required due to limited space.

The 30-member Tri-M Music Honor Society students will run the different stations and work with younger students. The stations are:

  • Sing Along Station: Kids will discover the power of their voices as they join in lively sing-alongs, learning new songs and harmonizing with friends.

  • Composer's Corner: Our experienced instructors will guide budding musicians in composing their very own musical pieces.

  • Instrument Playground: From guitars to trumpets and saxophones, children will have a blast exploring a variety of instruments.

  • Conductor's Station: Students will have the chance to wave the baton and direct their own musical masterpiece.

  • Drum Circle: Feel the beat, express yourself, and create music together in a dynamic and collaborative drumming experience.

  • Make Your Own Instrument: This hands-on crafting station gives students the opportunity to make their own musical instrument.

After exploring different stations, students will put on a Concert Finale performance at the end of the day. Space is limited to 15 participants per grade level.

At Upper Campus, families should enter at the north entrance since the day will start in the school’s auditorium. Visit the link for more details and to register.
