Several McHenry Community High School organizations are teaming up to offer the school’s first Bilingual College and Career Expo to McHenry students, as well as those in neighboring communities.
The event, set for 10 a.m. until noon on Nov. 8 at Upper Campus, will feature representatives from a growing list of colleges and universities, as well as local businesses.
McHenry’s College and Career Counselor Curtis Menke is also participating. The school’s National Honor Society and Latin American Student Organization will help provide any translation support to participants.
Kelsey Podgorski, Director of Multilingual Education, said the goal for the event is to provide college and career resources for the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee families who work with the school to provide a collaborative voice for the school district.
Podgorski is inviting other schools, as well. There will also be breakout sessions on scholarship opportunities, college and career readiness, financial aid and more.
It will be held in the Center for Science, Technology and Industry on the north side of Upper Campus, 4724 W. Crystal Lake Road, McHenry.
The following are institutions and organizations that are participating so far:
