With a theme of “Better Together,” McHenry High School’s 3rd annual Multicultural Fair in April promises to be an interactive exhibition of the many cultures represented throughout the community.
More than 40 organizations, artisans and food vendors are set to participate, featuring goods and talents highlighting countries and cultures from around the world. Performances, crafts and games will showcase culture from Mexico, Africa, Japan, Spain and many more countries.
It all takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 4 at Upper Campus, 4724 W. Crystal Lake Road, McHenry. The fair includes a cultural fashion show, live performances, interactive exhibits, along with crafts and other items for sale. Food will also be available from several food truck vendors.
The main performance stage will be in the Main Gym, surrounded by vendor tables. The performance schedule is:
11 a.m. Welcome and Introduction

11:30 a.m. MCHS Band
12:15 MCHS Choir
1 p.m. Folklore del Popolo
2 p.m. Dragon Martial Arts of Round Lake

There will also be activity tables in the surrounding hallways while food vendors will be in the cafeteria and outside. Participating organizations include the McHenry Public Library, International Cultural Exchange, McHenry County College, and many more.

Crafters will be selling items as well as offering interactive opportunities. Some of the crafting experiences include origami, Ojo de Dios (God’s eye) and worry dolls. There will also be flag-building with Legos and a cultural puzzle, among other games.
“We’re looking to provide a great mix of cultures for everyone to experience,” said Kelsey Podgorski, assistant director of multilingual education for McHenry High School District 156.
