There’s a new app in town for McHenry Community High School sports and it’s one that will be good news for athletes, families and the community.
Bound, a platform developed by retired school athletic directors in Iowa, is in use for fall sports and gearing up for winter, spring and summer. Fall sports families are encouraged to download the app, create an account and start following their teams.

Families will be able to use the app for practice schedules, calendars, emergency messaging and more, but anyone can use Bound to follow McHenry High School athletics competitions. Fans can also set up a free account and choose teams to follow, or just check on scores.
McHenry Athletic Director Chris Madson, who introduced Bound at the beginning of the school year, said so far the feedback has been positive, especially from families trying to keep track of scheduling for multiple student athletes.
“It’s been really good. It will only get better as we find new ways to use it,” Madson said.
Madson said coaches have embraced it, too. Bound has the capability to do many things from one platform, including the ability for families and fans to connect the athletics calendar to their own personal schedules.
Student data from athletic registration on PowerSchool is moved over to Bound. That is why Bound is only showing fall sports so far.

Madson said he’s been working with athletic staff at Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools where they use PowerSchool and Bound. Huntley High School is also using Bound.
