Mr. Jones' astronomy class built a scale model of the solar system. The students created posters for each planet, as well as a couple of dwarf planets and a few moons. All of the planets and moons have the correct size relative to the sun, which was modeled by a 60 cm exercise ball. All of the planets and dwarf planets are also the correct relative distance from the sun. In the second photo, Saturn is orange, the earth is blue, and Pluto is black. 🪐🌎🌕 ☀️

Congratulations to Jennifer Beattie and Emma Demilta! They completed the twelve-hour AVID strategies training. AVID is a 45-year-old national program that includes an elective class, where the goal is to help students achieve greater success in both the classroom and in their future. This is MCHS' third year as an AVID school.

Ms. Bennett's Spanish 1 students have been working hard this week to memorize and use the different present-tense verb conjugations.
On Friday, they worked together as a class to visually summarize their understanding. Great job!

During Friday's home basketball game, our community came together to celebrate our staff as well as support two McHenry businesses damaged by a fire in January. We also recognized McHenry Baseball Coach Brian Rockweiler's induction in the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame.
For the Riverside businesses -- Riverside Bakery and Reese's Barkery -- we helped raise at least $13,000 through Riverside Strong t-shirt and hoodie sales.
