Alumni Basketball Event Feb. 4

McHenry High School alumni are invited to come back home on Feb. 4 for an evening of basketball and reminiscing.

The newly formed MCHS Alumni Association is hosting a special gathering for alumni that includes boys and girls varsity basketball games and food catered by Metalwood Grille. It all kicks off around 5:15 p.m., and school officials are hoping to see plenty of McHenry graduates, particularly former basketball players.

“I enjoy seeing the former players when they come here,” said Instructor John Lunkenheimer, McHenry High School assistant basketball coach and graduate.

Former boys and girls basketball players will also get a special shirt designed and made by MCHS Warriors Ink, the McHenry High School printing and graphic design operation. The evening also features raffles with prizes.

Lunkenheimer noted that many current coaches played for McHenry High School, so it is nice to reconnect with former teammates. The evening will also help to reinvigorate attendance at basketball games, which has suffered a bit due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The alumni event was coordinated by Lunkenheimer and Instructor Megan Edwards, assistant coach of the girls team. The girls and boys teams have already been playing in some back-to-back home games on Friday evenings.

The girls game starts at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game at around 7:30 p.m.

Former players will be honored during both games. Former players interested in attending and being honored should fill out the form in the following link:
