
Industrial Education Instructor Gaylord Rodeman uses a GoPro video camera with an arm attached to his machines for live class demonstrations. Here he's showing Manufacturing 1 students proper cutting techniques on a lathe machine.





Mr. Micklinghoff is using a special iPhone clamp he made with a 3D printer to help deliver live demonstrations online for his engineering classes.
The clamp is a popular item with MCHS teachers as he's made 10 others so far.

Mr. Galvicius delivered prizes to the winners of the first ever Warrior Idol Video Challenge. Thirteen videos were selected from more than 120, and faculty members selected the winners. Congrats to Tatum Tison, Ava Raske, Avery deGroh, Kennedi Lucas and Taylor/Leah Wickenkamp.

Math Instructor Stefanie Lukas enjoys hearing her students' voices through Flipgrid, a video platform she recently started using for digital learning. Mrs. Lukas said it has been a great tool for "getting to know you" assignments as well as for assessing student progress.


Students in Surround Sound, the MCHS top vocal ensemble, were able to work in-person with Mr. Galvicius Monday at West Campus. MCHS is welcoming back small groups of students to school buildings for some hands-on learning opportunities.




We are so happy to see the MCHS Band return to school for the first live class of the 2020-2021 school year!




Culinary Instructors Megan Edwards, Jessica Grens, and Melanie Kadlec are measuring ingredients and making ingredient bags for students to use for at-home cooking labs. Teachers are working hard to make sure students can practice the skills they're learning in class.


All seniors will take the SAT in-person at their campuses on Wednesday morning. Administrators have have emailed detailed information. Please make sure your student arrives on time, with mask, self-certification form, calculator, and two sharpened #2 pencils. Good luck, seniors!

Music Instructor Derek Galvicius set up his room and made appointments with students to conduct the first test in his Introduction to Music Theory class. Instead of sending out a PDF test, he's scheduling "face-to-face" exam opportunities.


The MCHS Bass Fishing Club had its first excursion Wednesday afternoon to Three Oaks in Crystal Lake. Enjoy these images from the trip.





AP Environmental Science students are digging in the dirt in their own yards to compare soil samples with science Instructor Tim Beagle through Zoom. As Mr. Beagle shows them his findings, students are reporting their own discoveries.

Culinary Instructor Jessica Grens has been demonstrating how science is important in her Baking and Pastry classes. Using water bottles, she's showing her online students how quickly CO2 from yeast, sugar and water fills a balloon compared to baking soda and vinegar.



Spanish Instructor Otto Corzo is creating a space in his classroom to display reflections from each student. He's invited students to submit collages of photos that represent them.
This way, students see themselves in the classroom even while working remotely.


McHenry High School students are invited to enter the VFW's annual Voice of Democracy scholarship essay competition. The deadline is Oct. 31, and this year's theme is “Is this the country our founders envisioned?” For details, click here:
