After learning about Fleet Week and ships, Mrs. Hanson's summer school class has done activities related to ships and water. A few of the students' favorites have been making pool noodle boats and underwater graham crackers. They also enjoyed a sink or float science activity.

Monday evening, Latin-American Student Organization presented to the Board of Education. The focus of the presentation was LASO's attendance at the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute on February 13, 2025. LASO shared the key messages that various speakers, like Tsi-Tsi-Ki Felix and Ovi Vasquez, shared with them. The students returned motivated and invigorated to continue on their path to success. Tsi-Tsi-Ki Felix stated, “Lack of information and certainty leaves us scared. Educate yourself.” Ovi Vasquez said, “Show up to school. Show up every day. Do the work. Remain consistent.”

Meet Hedie B.W. Dunn Heidie B.W Dunn is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and has been honored by the National Organization of Theatrical Achievment for her work in secondary direction as the leader of the McHenry Thespian Troupe. In addition to serving on various school committees, she also coordinates the AVID program which has helped participants achieve academic success and become more involved in school activities. She is credited with mentoring a new generation of teachers within McHenry CHSD 156.
