Accelerated Placement

In accordance with the Illinois Accelerated Placement Act and Board Policy 6:135, MCHS will automatically enroll students who meet the following academic standards in honors, advanced placement, or dual credit coursework. Parents will be able to request re-evaluation of all placements through the standard level change process.  

The automatic enrollment, in the following school term, of a student into the next most rigorous level of advanced coursework offered by the high school if the student meets or exceeds State standards in English language arts, mathematics, or science on a State assessment as follows:

  • A student who meets or exceeds State standards in English language arts shall be automatically enrolled into the next most rigorous level of advanced coursework in English, social studies, humanities, or related subjects. 

  • A student who meets or exceeds State standards in mathematics shall be automatically enrolled into the next most rigorous level of advanced coursework in mathematics. 

  • A student who meets or exceeds State standards in science shall be automatically enrolled into the next most rigorous level of advanced coursework in science.”

Enroll in the next most rigorous level of:

  • English

  • Social Studies

  • Humanities

  • Related Subjects

Enroll in the next most rigorous level of:

  • Mathematics

  • This could apply to AP Computer Science and some Career and Technical Education Courses (CTE)

Enroll in the next most rigorous level of:

  • Science

  • This could apply to some CTE courses.
