On Friday, Mrs. Donelson's freshman biology students tested how their own breath can change the chemistry of a solution. By blowing bubbles into Bromothymol Blue (pH indicator), the CO2 they exhaled formed carbonic acid, dropping the pH and turning the liquid from blue to yellow. They are leaving their solutions under a UV light over the weekend and will make new observations on Monday! š§Ŗ

Last week, Courtney Desiri, a student teacher in the alternative program had students work on life skills and made breakfast burritos from start to finish including cleaning the kitchen and doing dishes. Students were responsible to prep all the food, cook the food and clean up the kitchen along with the eating area when done. Students enjoyed the life experience and did a great job!

Marching Warriors earned their first true class championship since 2021 on Sunday by taking FIRST PLACE in Class 3A at Sandwich MusicFest. In addition, they ranked third overall at the event and completed a full sweep of all individual caption/category awards in their class for Best Percussion, Best Auxiliary [Color Guard], Best Music and Best Visual.
They were also at ISU on Saturday participating in the Illinois State Marching Band Championships where they improved their ranking by five places from last year! Great job, Marching Warriors!

Introduction to Business students pitched their own nonprofit organizations. Students had to think like true executive directors and master the full business ecosystem by incorporating clear, compelling mission statements, sustainable funding sources, an efficient operational flow and the tax laws and transparency requirements that surround real-world nonprofits. Thanks to everyone who made our Manufacturing, Trades and Industry Expo a succesful evening! MTI has led students to internships and careers. Some students are even employed part-time while they're still in high school after connecting with vendors at MTI. We also loved seeing children of all ages being fascinated by the machinery.

Amy Smulski Druml, MCHS 2026 Distinguished Graduate, visited both buildings Tuesday to talk to students about her own journey as a nurse who is now vice president and chief nursing executive for Northwestern Medicineās McHenry and Woodstock hospitals.
Druml, a 1994 MCHS graduate, encouraged students interested in healthcare careers to take MCHSā certified nursing assistant program since the skills and experience translates nicely into most healthcare careers.

Our homecoming parade is THIS Sunday, October 4 at 12:30 p.m. from Veterans Park to Freshman Campus. Following the parade, we will Pack the Point at Miller Point with a rally and coronation. Distinguished Graduate Amy Druml will also be honored. McCracken gates will then open at 4:30 p.m. for a 5 p.m. Powder Puff game.
