MCHS homecoming parade kicks off week of activities

A new Sunday afternoon homecoming parade through downtown McHenry starts a week of activities to celebrate the 2022-23 school year with the community.

This year's change for the parade is an effort to partner with community organizations and businesses to provide a Sunday event for everyone.  Students have been decorating windows along the parade route in anticipation of the Oct. 2 parade.

On Monday, spirit week kicks off with Adam Sandler dress-up day. On Wednesday, junior and senior girls are set to compete in the annual Powderpuff football game starting at 6 p.m.

The 7 p.m. Friday night football against Crystal Lake South features an alumni tent and recognition of the 2022 Distinguished Graduate Betty Thompson. Halftime entertainment includes recognition of the 2022 boys baseball team, which finished 4th in the state in Class 4A, and the girls golf team for winning the Fox Valley Conference championship.

Homecoming week culminates with a dance on Saturday with an enchanted forest theme. For more details, visit the MCHS homecoming web page.
