Honors Spanish three students are creating alebrijes which are colorful, hand-painted sculptures of fantasy creatures that are a part of Mexican folk art. Students rolled a die to see what animal each body part should be modeled after, which creates some interesting creatures!

Thirty students from MCHS attended the Illinois State University Future Teacher Conference with 1,600 other students from across the state to learn more about the teaching profession and experience a college campus. #WarriorReady156





On Friday, several MCHS science and social science teachers met with coaches and teachers from D127 and D117 to collaborate on useful strategies to reach all multilingual students.

Thursday, students from the garden club planted spring flower bulbs in the garden in front of Freshman Campus. They also met little garden helpers who have not yet fallen asleep for the winter - the worms. We can't wait to see the flowers bloom in the spring! 💐 #WarriorReady156






On Thursday, members of the AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination) sophomore class visited University of Wisconsin-Madison to learn about their programs and admission process, take a tour of the campus and experience a Big10 campus close to home. #WarriorReady156

The Upper Campus College & Career Center is open to seniors every Thursday for walk-in help regarding any Next Step actions. This includes college applications, financial aid, scholarships, apprenticeships, essays, McHenry County College and much more! #WarriorReady156

Some of the counselors brought members of the MCHS Latino/Hispanic community to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, an Emerging Hispanic Serving Institute. Students enjoyed a presentation from admissions counselors, toured the campus and ate lunch in a college cafeteria!

🌿 🪴 🍃 Students from garden club have been growing a plant called cress from seeds. They additionally are growing a small indoor garden from parts of root vegetables that are usually thrown away in the trash. They have beets, parsley, leek, celery and avocado. Awesome job!





Arlett Zarate Diaz, a McHenry High School 2024 graduate and first-generation college student, received a $2,500 GritGrant related to her work when she was a high school senior in the school’s INCubatoredu entrepreneurship class. Read more: https://www.dist156.org/article/1825219
