MCHS celebrates Title IX:
On Tuesday, a panel of former teachers and graduates told students stories about high school, particularly girls athletics, before Title IX, the 1972 federal civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in education.
Thank you to Dorothy Drakeford Vick, Judy Walsh Smith, Rose Adams, Mary Osterman Winkel, and Veronica Bierman Rogers.
"Please, please appreciate the things you have now. Don't take them for granted," Rose Adams told students.

McHenry Baseball is again partnering with Hampshire High School's baseball team for the 7th annual Strike Out Cancer game 6:30 p.m. on May 20 at Trout Park in Elgin. Fans have the opportunity to have the name of a loved one affected by cancer displayed on a miniature wooden baseball bat, for a minimum $10 donation. The bats will then be on display throughout the May 20 game.
Those interested in donating can contact Mr. Rockweiler at RockweilerBrian@dist156.org . Bats will be returned to those donating after the May 20 game.

Food for Thought program.

Tree-mendous effort:
A total of 267 tree saplings were distributed and planted Saturday by a group of MCHS students, staff and community volunteers!
Just in time for #EarthDay and #ArborDay, the Tree-Plenish campaign was led by the Environmental Club.

Current 9th-graders were welcomed to the Upper Campus Friday morning with smiles, games, music and more for the first-ever Sneak Peek event.
After smaller group sessions and tours, the morning ended with a pep rally, including music from Staff Infection and tug-of-war contests.





This week Prevention and Wellness Coordinator Maura Reid and a group of students encouraged those going to prom to sign a Safe Prom pledge. The McHenry Chamber donated gift cards that were given to raffle winners. Have a safe prom, everyone!



UPDATE: Upper students who drive are welcome to leave at 10 a.m. (after 3rd period) tomorrow (Friday, 4/29). Upper bus riders and Upper parent pick-up students will be dismissed at 10:40 a.m. NO CHANGE for Freshmen: They will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m. after their UC Sneak Peak.


Good Luck to Andrew Rupcich, MCHS Class of 2017 and All-American OT for Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. Sawyer Shafer placed 4th in Smash Ultimate solos. Theo Milton and James Karalus placed 1st in Smash Ultimate duos advancing to State! Caeleb Stecks, Logan Theilson & Blake Zeinert placed 2nd in Rocket League advancing to State! ALL received MCHS's first ever IHSA eSports medals!
